Job Description

Pay Range: $30 to $40/hr. The pay rate may differ depending on your skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.

Profile: Analyst that has worked in a similar-sized organization providing user support for server, hardware and software challenges. Additionally, this person will be tasked with asset management duties such as procuring equipment and maintaining inventory and process around ensuring equipment’s return, etc.

About the Role:

  • This position is based in our Reston, VA office and is full-time onsite.
  • The Asset Management Analyst position involves aggregating a detailed inventory of software and hardware assets.
  • Utilizing the information gathered to assist with decisions concerning Technology-related purchases and redistribution of those assets to the organization. Supporting the organization in eliminating waste and increasing efficiency by making the best use of existing asset resources.
  • Analyzing and evaluating Enterprise-wide tools to ensure a cohesive approach to utilization within the technology space. Ensuring compliance, cost-effectiveness, and efficient utilization of assets.
  • Including procuring equipment and maintaining inventory and processes around ensuring the equipment’s return (e.g., reclamation). Providing a high level of support to our internal customers when responding to ticket requests and incidents.

Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM) (30%)

  • Ability to analyze and optimize data related to software licenses, hardware inventory, and asset utilization.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of software licenses, hardware devices, and related assets and regularly update asset databases and tracking systems.
  • Ability to mitigate risks related to unauthorized software installations or outdated hardware.
  • Assist with asset lifecycle stages (acquisition, deployment, maintenance, retirement).
  • Assist with identifying trends, risks, and opportunities related to asset management.
  • Assist end-users with asset-related inquiries, troubleshooting, and training.
  • Ability to execute processes relating to software and hardware asset management.
  • Assist in special program-related issues as needed, with the flexibility to change focus as necessary.

Software Asset Management (SAM) (40%)

  • Ability to monitor software licenses, renewals, and compliance.
  • Ability to optimize software usage & license compliance to minimize costs (e.g., normalization, reconciliation).
  • Ability to maintain databases and records of information such as licenses, service agreements, and warranties (e.g., reporting and dashboards).
  • Provide guidance on software installation.
  • Support software requests, including Productivity Office Suites, etc.

Hardware Asset Management (HAM) (20%)

  • Ability to track hardware inventory, including servers, workstations, laptops, and peripherals.
  • Coordinate with procurement, deployment, and disposal of hardware assets (will be required to move HW).
  • Ability to ensure compliance with hardware warranties and maintenance contracts.
  • Support all Client hardware requests, including laptops, PC/MAC OS, servers, etc.
  • Provide Off Hours support as needed for moves and special projects.

Team Skills (10%)

  • Provide meaningful contributions to discussions surrounding process improvement and future departmental goals and strategies.
  • Effective with interpersonal communication, relationship building and problem solving.
  • Assist when required in cross-training peers and in resolving issues when first presented without escalation, where possible.


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years experience in technology asset management and internal customer support.
  • Demonstrated competency through training or application of Information Technology contract administration, licensing, purchasing or procurement.
  • Proficiency in asset management tools and software (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, SAM, CMDB) are a plus.
  • Excellent written and communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal & organizational skills.

  • Ability to deal tactfully with vendors, suppliers, and contractors who provide a broad spectrum of products and services.
  • Demonstrated skills with office automation tools and end-user database software and utilities.
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • General knowledge of accounting, finance, marketing, and logistics.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Basic Linux skills preferred.
  • General knowledge of accounting, finance, marketing, and logistics preferred.
  • Certificate Management knowledge preferred.
  • Requires use of a wireless handheld device.
