Job Description
Describe the primary goals, objectives or functions or outputs of this position.
The HVAC/R (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning/Refrigeration) Mechanic provides “skilled trade” maintenance support to the manufacturing, research and development laboratories, warehouses, and office facilities. Services include that of manufacturing equipment repair, electrical power equipment and distribution system upkeep, equipment and facilities preventive and predictive maintenance, refrigeration and HVAC/R system maintenance, lubrication services, environmental testing, pipe fitting, mechanical and general building maintenance services.
Responsibilities:

•Exercises ability and job knowledge to independently perform and understand hardware, operating systems and maintenance work on a variety of HVAC/R equipment and systems including production, lab, and facility equipment.
•Understands the alignment of mechanical drives and how to repair problems with them.
•Understands the setup, use, repair and replacement of all I/O or BAS controlled systems including but not limited to: Current to Pressure Transducers, Controller Boards, Actuators, Valves, Dampers, Electric Pressure Switches, Pressure Current Sensors, Temperature to Current Sensors, and Humidity to Current Sensors.
•Must have an understanding of the HVAC/R VALIDATION / COMMISSIONING PROCESS.
•Works as a multi-skill tradesperson, doing mechanical, pipefitting, building maintenance and/or other work on special assignments as required and assigned by the supervisor.
•HVAC/R Technician may be assigned as a lead person in a crew of two or more tradespersons on larger projects. He/she would be the liaison person and coordinator of work assigned to the crew.
•Assists in ensuring that GxP and safe work policies and procedures are followed and maintained at all times in accordance with established company policies.
•Errors in shutting down equipment or opening switches in appropropriately could result in electrical equipment shutdown and resultant product losses in hundreds of thousands of dollars.
•Accidentally energizing electrical/mechanical systems and/or equipment could have life or death implications.
Qualifications:
List required and preferred qualifications Include education, skills and experience.
•Proficient at identifying location and routine operation of the equipment trained on.
•Will perform advanced mechanical tasks and PM procedures on a variety of HVAC/R equipment.
•Must be able to independently evaluate the use of various resources and make knowledgeable decisions in regard to the application of safety policies and company standards.
•Certified by the Federal EPA for operation of refrigerant reclaiming equipment and for proper usage and disposal of all refrigerants is required
•High School Diploma/GED required
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience
•Technical degree or relevant certificate in HVAC/R desired
