Job Description

Pay Range: $50/hr – $57/hr, the pay rate may differ depending on your skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.

9/80 Work Schedule: Hours: 5:00 – 2:30 PM or 6:00 – 3:30 PM, can be left to their preference on start time with associated leave time

Description:

  • In this role the candidate shall have experience designing simple to complex industrial tools, dies, gauges, drill & assembly jigs, fixtures, machine attachments and equipment, required for production or experimental use, considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.
  • In addition, the candidate is expected to be familiar with current fabrication/machine shop practices to provide guidance to engineers for design manufacturability and drawing clarity.
  • This person shall be able to conceptualize these designs in 3D, detail the CAD model and detail the drawings for fabrication.
  • These drawings shall be properly laid out using views and dimensions that are in compliance with ASME Y14.1-5 standards.
  • While being the principle contributor and/or leader of a task, you shall work with internal/external customers, and colleagues to ensure that the design meets the customer needs.

Core Competencies:

  • A qualified candidate is expected to have experience examining and releasing assembly tooling drawings and related documents for soundness, efficiency, and simplicity in design;
    completeness and dimensional accuracy; correctness of materials and processes; conformity to design/drafting standards (e.g. GD&T), design specifications, and practicability; and economy of fabrication, assembly, and installation.
  • Experience with industry standard aerospace 3D modeling tools including NX & CATIA
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, methods & fabrication processes
  • Able to communicate with various levels of leadership, must be able to coordinate and resolve interpersonal and technical problems and must work well either in a team or independently with limited guidance

Required Skills:

  • Prior tooling design experience
  • CATIA & NX CAD Experience
  • Designing & drafting for manufacturability (tolerance, material selection).
  • Knowledge of fabrication methods (machining, welding).
  • Experience in an assembly manufacturing environment
  • Material properties awareness
  • Experience in an aerospace field/company
  • Developing a concept for tools from a request of a supporting engineer for assembly or fabrication of components.
  • They will be modeling & drafting with expectations of completion within an established timeline and budget(hours).
  • Ongoing coordination with team members will be expected to successfully address customer request/needs.
